ConfBenefit, the first international non-profit confederation based in Brussels, has been officially established to represent, connect, and support Benefit Corporations around the world, promoting their development, institutional recognition, and impact on the global economy.
ConfBenefit is the result of a joint initiative by several Benefit Corporations as founding companies which recognized the need for an international body capable of adequately representing and supporting this rapidly growing business model, based on a balance between profit, social impact, and environmental regeneration.
Brussels, a strategic and symbolic choice
“We chose Brussels not only for its institutional centrality, but also for its symbolic value: different cultures, economies, and legal systems converge here. We wanted ConfBenefit to be born in the heart of Europe, as a sign of openness, dialogue, and cooperation between businesses and institutions”, says Mariangela Zito, President of ConfBenefit.
The President also emphasizes the need to spread the Benefit model, which is still little known in many regions of the world, even where dedicated regulatory frameworks already exist: “Benefit Corporations are often confused with non-profits, whereas they represent an advanced business and management model capable of combining profit and positive impact. Our mission is to clarify their identity and strengthen their recognition, particularly in Latin America, for example, where the potential of this paradigm is enormous. Through the Benefit Corporation Observatory, we will promote research, analysis, and comparison of existing international best practices”.
A project created by businesses for businesses
Promoted by a global network of mission-driven companies and visionary leaders from Italy, Spain, United States, and Latin America, ConfBenefit stands out as an autonomous and independent organization with respect to existing certifications, with an exclusive focus on the legal form of Benefit Corporations and their recognition in different legal systems. “ConfBenefit represents a paradigm shift: not only do we do business responsibly, but we also participate in the construction of a global architecture that makes this model systemic”, says Luisa Bruna Caprotti, Secretary General of ConfBenefit and founder of Whiteready Srl Benefit Corporation (Italy). The Secretary General also emphasizes the operational dimension of the Confederation: “With the Benefit Makers digital platform, we want to truly connect Benefit Corporations around the world, share experiences, consolidate practices, and generate common opportunities. It is a concrete tool for translating the principles of regenerative economics into collective action and measurable results”.
Global networks and shared tools
“ConfBenefit will operate through regional hubs on the main continents to coordinate local strategies and foster collaboration between businesses, institutions, and research centers. It is a network structure designed to connect different economies around a common language: that of positive impact. Comgo, a Benefit Corporation with offices in Spain and the United States, was created to bring efficiency and innovation to the ethical social welfare system.
Joining ConfBenefit means amplifying this vision on a global scale”, explains Manuel Hurtado, Vice President of ConfBenefit and founder of Comgo Bien Comón Sociedad de Beneficio e interes Comón.

A global infrastructure for the impact economy
ConfBenefit aims to become: the political and institutional voice of Benefit Corporations at European and global level; a technical reference point for the harmonization of ESG metrics and standards; a catalyst for common networks, tools, and initiatives, through Benefit Makers, regional hubs, and the International Observatory of Benefit Corporations.
The Confederation thus intends to contribute to the construction of an economy capable of combining competitiveness and the common good, supported by a shared regulatory framework and global institutions capable of ensuring its representation, credibility, and sustainable growth.

Founding members also include Ollipay Srl Società Benefit (Italy), Diamante Società Benefit Srl (Italy), and Pandora’s Way Ltd. Public Benefit Corporation (USA), entities that embody the principles of sustainability, ethics, and innovation at the heart of the ConfBenefit Manifesto.
